One of the biggest problems in the past is that although the online lottery synidcate system allows you a great way of playing in a large syndicate to get lots of entries in the UK National Lottery lotto and EuroMillions draws, you could only ever play in one syndicate for each draw.

They have now rectified this, and you can play in multiple synidcates, by choosing how many you wish to subscribe to each week. This is ideal, especially as the £26m super Euromillions draw is due to happen tonight.

We have increased the number of syndicates we subscribe to for this draw, and will then reduce them next week to a more affordable level.

Well, last night was a bit of a disappointment, I had purchased a EuroMillions lottery ticket from the local Tescos and my partner had entered a syndicate at work - so that was a total of 8 goes on the lottery between us.

Get the results this morning and lo and behold, although we matched two numbers on one line, there were no winning tickets..... What a shame..

On the other hand, the postman delivered a cheque from Virtual World Direct for £80.50 in commission from referring others and this morning I log on to find that my online lottery syndicate also won in last night's draw - only £7.20, but heck that's better than nothing.

Cost of entering for me? £1.50 for the ticket I bought at the Tesco till !!

Well we must admit, having done so well in the first five months of the year, it has been a bit of a roller coaster ride at home, with ever increasing fuel prices and gas & electricity prices, we need to do something to keep the home fires burning.

At least we may not win the lottery, but we continue expanding our wins on the online syndicate's mutli-win system provided by Virtual World Direct, as well as earning some healthy commission - all that and we are playing the lottery for free !!

Since January 2008, we have now earned a total of £385 in commission - this is turning playing the UK National Lottery into a real business opportunity

Looking back over the first 5 months of 2008, we were astounded to see the increased levels of activity in our Virtual World Direct online lottery syndicate scheme.

Since January, out syndicate has won a total of 9 times on the weekly Euromillions draw (worth £872.60) and a further 6 times on the twice weekly UK National Lottery Draw (bringing in another £240).

Commission received from introducing other people into the scheme has also blossomed, with £272 in commission received to date.

Fingers crossed, this could be our lucky year!

Biggest Win on the Lottery So Far

Wahey - I've had a bit of good news yet - not enough to let me give up work and retire, but I won my biggest win so far on last night's EuroMillions draw - the syndicate won a total of £811.60 for matching 3 balls.

All I need now is to win again tonight and it will cover my fuel bills for the week! Blimey, with the price of petrol I do wonder if its worth going to work sometimes - I'm currently spending £200+ a month on fuel - anyone got some better ideas (a bike is out of the question, as I'm 15 miles away from work)

Hmm - best cross my fingers and hope I carry on winning!

Building up your online business

Well, 2008 has seen a good start to our online lottery syndicate (despite the downturn in the world economy). We have recruited 8 new people to our syndicate since the start of the year and are getting regular enquiries. Not only are we now playing both the UK National Lottery and the EuroMillions Draw for free, but we are also now earning a steady £11 extra per week in commission.

We have been using two important tools to promote our online business and have been pleasantly surprised by how effective they have proved.

The main driver is probably this blog, which is syndicated across several sites making it easier to find and drive people to our website. However, a new angle this year has been to start advertising on Facebook, where the ads can be targetted and you can pay around 34 cents for someone clicking on your advert, which makes it highly cost effective.

It will be interesting to see how this year pans out for our syndicate, but the outlook is good so far!

Office Lottery Syndicates

The National Lottery loves to promote a winning syndicate team - especially when it can have a massive impact on a business - imagine all of your finance and payroll staff winning the lottery one Saturday, to find that by Tuesday, you have no-one to pay your suppliers or more importantly your remaining staff !!

It's a wonder the insurance companies have not caught onto this and offered all business insurance cover for this eventuality. Mind you the odds against it happening are so horrendous, it would be an excellent money making opportunity for insurers!

On the other hand, how many staff would love the opportunity to stick two fingers up to their bosses when on Monday morning a whole department turn up just to hand their notice in and then go down the pub to celebrate?

I remember one lottery syndicate which was run within a legal firm I used to work for - there were 20 players in the syndicate, basically all of the support staff and one or two solicitors. Even with that support over 2 1/2 years, I think we won a grand total of about £60 (or £3 each).

Had I known about Virtual World Direct's Online Lottery Syndicate I would have recommended that we use the £20 per week to sign up with VWD - after paying £4.99 to become an affiliate, plus £5pw, the first person could introduce 3 others each paying £5pw. All four would be the trustees for the office Lottery Syndicate and for an outlay of the same £20pw, the office syndicate would no longer receive just 20 lines on the Saturday lottery draw, but actually receive 176 lines on both the Wednesday and Saturday lottos, plus getting £3 back per week in affiliate fees.

Suddenly the dreams of sticking it to the bosses seem a whole lot nearer, with a total of 352 lines per week on the lottery, this is equivalent to the office lottery playing over 17 weeks.

An interesting concept indeed - now all we need is to find 20 willing volunteers at work....

Well I was surprised today to spot online a typical diet advert "Lose 10 pounds in a week" - it must be wonderful to see these adverts and think, yeah I need to lose 10 pounds, I'm sure that will help - after all they are advertising on Google.

Well I can show you quite easily how to lose 10 pounds in a week, without any need for exercise or changing your diet - simply send £10 by PayPal to me.

Hang on - surely there's a catch??

Well no, if you do this you will definitely lose 10 pounds in a day, let alone a week!
Actually we are not talking of 10 pounds in weight, but 10 pounds in money. Should teach you to read the terms and conditions beforehand and make sure you know exactly what you are getting for your money.

At least with the Virtual World Direct's Online Lottery Syndicate scheme you know precisely that - for your 10 pounds a week, you are given the two sets of lottery numbers which you will be playing and can check them against the National Lottery midweek and Saturday draws (shown on TV) and against the National Lottery Euromillions Draw numbers on a Friday night.

As we reach the end of 2007, we have decided to look back at the year and see whether Virtual World Direct has been worth the effort of marketing, writing this blog and promoting our own lottery syndicate.

Well, throughout the year, we have played on both the UK's National Lottery Syndicate and the EuroMillions draw syndicate at the princely sum of £10 per week to cover entries in the three draws per week.

We have received a commission cheque for the year, totalling £62.50, and have also won £41.30 during 2007. Against this, we have had to pay out £107.34 in entry fees (the rest of the fees were deducted from commission earned). Overall for 2007, we have therefore made a net loss of £3.54 - hardly anything to write home about, and have had the chance of winning a lot more money tax free.

We have introduced 115 people to the scheme and have a downline of 10 people playing underneath us on a regular basis.

Overall, the system appears to be working - it is not as easy to promote as we would have hoped, but then a quick look at ebay shows just how many people are trying to promote the scheme on there in the hopes of building their own downline and earning enough commission each week in order to play the lottery for free.

We will look again at our methods of promotion and whether there is anything better we can do. We would welcome comments from people who have successfully introduced others to Virtual World Direct's Online Lottery Syndicate scheme and hopefully we can share ideas.

We are (nearly) managing 49 entries per week into the two UK National Lotto draws and 41 entries per week into the National Lottery EuroMillions draw, effectively for free. We are also building a business out of this, with more and more people being introduced via our website and blog. Give it another 12 months and we should hopefully see positive returns out of this.

Saving The Planet (or maybe just money?)

We have long promoted the benefits of working to benefit the planet - we have worked for many years with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, undertaking practical conservation tasks, up to our armpits in mud building a footpath, or even breaking the ice on a pond in the winter to do some pond clearance in the middle of a snow-storm.

For the saner amongst us out there, you really should look to save energy. Leaving appliances on standby is one of the major culprits with many televisions using over 10% of their normal power just to keep you from having to cross the room to press the on/off switch. With the advent of digital TV, this is made worse, as many set top boxes use almost as much power on standby as when being used !!

We have found an excellent little gadget - the "Bye Bye Standby" which comes as a set of plugs which can be operated remotely using wireless technology - you can either turn them off individually or as part of a group. Ideal for switching off the sky box downstairs on a night after watching a film on the upstairs TV !! This is not too pricey and we have even found that the cheapest place to purchase Bye Bye Standby is Tesco Direct. With a starter kit consisting of one remote control and 3 remote plugs, this was simple to install and should save some money in the first six months.

Now all we need is someone to offer us a solar heating system - now that would be excellent, particularly as we have a south facing roof. However, it is hard to justify over £4,000 for such a system, even if it might help save the planet.

OK, we have been trying out this lottery scheme now for a while - and yes it is working for us - we have had a few wins over the months, although nothing to write home about alas - mind you it is nice to log onto Virtual World Direct every once in a while and see the number of people who are checking out the site having read our website or blog (thanks). It is also nice to see that we do sometimes win (unlike playing on the lottery on your own, where you are lucky to win £10 a year!!).

In fact we have introduced 111 people to the site and our syndicate has won £1050 on the EuroMillions Draw since April, but only £320 on the National Lottery draw.

I guess it is a bit like the other much better known social networking sites, such as Avon, which has proved a successful business model over the years, but does really rely on you referring other people to sign up with them in order to achieve better earnings. Surprising really that most of the people we introduce only join up as Players and not as affiliates - maybe they don't want to try and earn free entries into the lottery.

We have had a look at the new scheme which Virtual World Direct are offering - uVme and we must admit that we are confused as to what exactly it offers. It appears to be a social networking site where you can play games against other members and maybe win some money, but unlike Facebook and Faceparty, you have to pay to join the site and earn money for introducing others. Seems as though this is not well thought out - I cannot see the site appealing to many people and it is expensive to join.

OK, we all need to think about anti-virus software and a firewall, but do we take the plunge and spend money on it or risk our data and personal details with one of the free ones, or Microsoft's own firewall (which is heavily attacked).

Having looked at the options, we have taken the plunge of renewing our subscription with Symantec and purchased their Norton 360 product, which is quicker than previous versions of Norton Internet Security (so it does not tie the system up as much), has faster scanning, provides its own firewall and antivirus protection and much more.

The advantages of Norton 360 are that it also provides regular backups of your data (full or incremental backups) and also provides 2GB free online storage for you to store your most important files, in case of the all too drastic hard disk failure. One of the bonuses is that when you look at the price tag, of £59.99, this may appear very high, but often PC World has discounted offers and you also must remember that this now includes the facility to install it on 3 computers in the same household, so that works out at just under £20 per PC !!

Not too bad when you think of the damage that one virus can do.

The other trick for this month, has to be to look at switching to the Alliance & Leicester's current account - it still offers the best rate of interest of any current account (6.5% fixed until Jan 2009), excellent online service and you only need fund it with £500pm (most other similar accounts need minimum funding of £1000pm). Keep your eyes open for special offers too - they often offer very high interest bearing savings accounts if you open them at the same time as a current account.

So what has been happening?

Well postal strikes abound and the British summer has made us all want to head for sunnier climes, but without that big win, can we really afford it? The UK job market and economy looks fairly healthy at the moment, but house prices continue to soar out of the reach of many people.

Wouldn't it just be great to win the estimated £6.5 million pound lottery rollover this weekend?

Well, we have been pushing the merits of the Virtual World Direct lottery syndicate scheme hard and are pleased that at least 18 people have signed up for more information or playing the free to enter £1,000 draw since we started in April.

What is more, we ahve now signed up 8 people to the scheme, so our £5 per week entry fee is now earning us £9 per week in commission. This is working, so we have joined the eruomillions draw syndicate as well for another £5 per week.

Since the post on 28th June, our syndicate has now won a further £222.80 - not bad really as it doesn't even involve a trip down to the local shop to buy a ticket.

Well this e-lottery site is actually starting to show signs of turning into a business.

Over the past few weeks, we have signed up another few players - we are now up to 6 fellow affiliates and 5 players, earning us £13 a week to offset against the costs of playing (£10).

Since the last post (10th June), our lottery syndicate has won a further £48.70, so not too bad on that score either. We have received a cheque as well, so we know that the scheme is cosha.

News After Holidays

Well, having just returned from a holiday in the Lake District (who says it rains all the time?) I thought it would be worth taking stock of the current position.

Since starting this blog in April, we have won a grand total of £1.64 on the UK National Lottery - hmm not too good - only 2 wins. However, on the EuroMillions draw, we have fared rather better, with 9 wins, totalling £18.08 - that means that our Syndicate has won a total of £803.56 in around 10 weeks.

What is more, we have now signed up a total of 5 people to the syndicate scheme and are now playing effectively for free.

We also noticed that the free to enter twice weekly £1000 draw has also been rehashed, making it much more user friendly and appealing.

Hmm - maybe this Virtual World Direct - Affiliate Scheme system could just work.

Great another win on 11th May 2007 (only £6.80 for our syndicate matching one number on the EuroMillions Draw, but it all mounts up) - been a while since we have won anything on the National Lottery, so fingers crossed for this weekend.

We have also signed up a couple more people to the scheme - only need one more person and we will be playing for free !!

This system does actually seem to work by the look of it, so why not give it a try.

OK, so where are we and is this scheme working for us yet?

Well our latest winnings have been another £3.31 on last night's EuroMillions Draw (our syndicate won £129.10 for matching 2 main numbers).

We have a couple of people signed up for the free weekly draw and another 2 people signed up under our affiliate program, meaning that we earn £2 per week to offset against the cost of entry.

Well it is better than nothing - over the last week, we have therefore only had to pay out £10-(£3.31+£2) = £4.69 to have multiple entries in both the Wednesday and Saturday UK National Lottery draw and the Friday night EuroMillions Draw.

OK, so we are still not in the black, but at least it is getting cheaper to play and there is always the chance of winning a bigger sum !!

Hmm no luck on Saturday's draw - however, I just had an email from Virtual World Direct. Apparrently it is their fifth anniversary and to celebrate, they are offering a prize draw for everyone who signs up over the next five days (23rd April - 27th April 2007). Today's draw is for a Nintendo Wii - that darn console you either love or hate - guess it's a bit like marmite.

Wahey - we won some more money on last night's National Lottery EuroMillions Draw - our syndicate won £132.10 for matching just 2 numbers, so that is £3.39 each !!

I know it's not a massive amount, certainly not enough to retire, but 2 wins in 10 days shows that this system does work.

I didn't win anything on Wednesday's National Lottery draw, so I wonder what I have won in this draw?

OK a little disappointing, the syndicate only managed to match one main number (41). Ordinarily we would not have won anything, but at least under the way in which this lottery sydicate system operates, we have £5.40 to share out - meaning a grand total of (wait for it....) 14p each.

Hmm hardly going to send me on holiday this year is it - not even enough to catch the bus down to town. Mind you at least now I don't need to pop into town to buy the lottery ticket !

Well tomorrow is the Grand National - I remember the hey day of Red Rum and Shergar, but what is with the names of the horses nowadays - made up names and some weird un-pronouncable names - I wonder if people are trying to test the commentators skills.

Anyway, I have decided to have a little flutter in the office sweepstake - paid my pound into the pot and what do I get? "Philson Run" - hmm fingers crossed for tomorrow, you never know with that Aintree course - it can test the best of them.

If I win, I will keep you posted - not sure I will get very far on the top prize of £52.
